Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

Risk and Compliance is a Second line of defence (LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group's businesses (also referred to as "the First LOD") to ensure that they effectively manage as "Risk Owners" the risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of 'Risk Stewards' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The Risk and Compliance function is a Risk Steward for a number of financial and non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group's risk framework.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

This role encompasses:

The CA TM Deputy Stream Lead will be responsible for co-leading with the Pod lead a stream within TM Analytics.
This includes the TM strategy definition of the strategy, the design, the implementation and the support of the models within the stream.
This will also require to lead the engagement with Advanced Analytics, Analytics Engineering, CrossPod and Scenario Development teams internal to the TM value stream as well as the engagement with other teams within Compliance Analytics and beyond such as IT, Product Management, etc.
This will require support for internal/external model reviews. Accountabilities include portfolio management with Stream lead (runs the portfolio of work in terms of stakeholder engagement/country assignment/plans/management of cross pod project interaction etc) and analytics management
Manage the analytics portfolio including allocation of resources to projects, ensures consistency of analytics approach across countries and skillset management
Act as Model developer and Owner delegate and take the lead on projects when necessary

This role requires :

Integration with ongoing controls to ensure that the models continue to be fit-for-purpose

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Qualification

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a numerate or computer science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of external banking environment - regulatory, political and competitive
Understanding of HSBC Group and its strategy.
Solid knowledge in relation to quality assurance and audit within a risk management context
Strong awareness and understanding of HSBCs internal control and operational risk environment
Excellent understanding of the purpose, values, culture and fundamental framework of Compliance, as well as the broader HSBC organisation
Due to immigration restrictions in Switzerland we will only be able to consider applications from Swiss or EU citizens or from candidates holding a valid Swiss work permit.

Experience

Minimum of 5-7 years proven and progressive experience in financial services data analysis and/or application development; AML Compliance specific experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of automated transaction monitoring AML TM systems.
Strong data analysis, technical and analytical skills.
Experience working with large data sets and Big Data solutions.
Proven experience of risk model development and validation
Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment.
Experience working across cultures.
Experience of managing and coordinating a globally dispersed team.
Demonstrate strong business knowledge, significant experience of working within a complex global business unit.
Proven experience of creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
Significant experience of developing storyboards to present complex data analyses to senior stakeholders.
Excellent analytical skills with good eye for detail and ability to draw and support conclusions or anticipate outcomes from data trends or system documentation.
Demonstrated results in delivering material success and results in terms of budgetary management, cost management and financial planning.
Demonstrated results in delivering performance improvement, successfully applying innovative thinking.
Demonstrated experience in managing customer and stakeholder issues in a matrix organizational context
Global project management experience.
Strong understanding of evolving risk environments.
Experience of line management and prior direct reports in a similar matrix environment

Technical Competence

Definition, Identification and Implementation of Best Practice
Business Planning and financial management: Cost Optimization, AOP, ROP, etc.
Ability to translate strategic business management goals into delivery schedule of activities, and manage outputs successfully
Innovation and Implementation of global methodologies
Strong understanding of Operational Risk management
Implementing and managing a uniform approach to operations procedures, issues, requirements and problems associated with each one
Proficiency in analytics laguage such as SQL, SAS, R, Python
Machine learning experience is a plus.
Data Modelling and Experience in Google analytics, AWS is a plus
Understanding and proven experience in advanced statistical methods/functions
Strong technical skills with experience using Oracle and MS Excel (advanced functions).
