Senior Python Engineer / Ingenieur

About our client:

For our client, one of the leading insurance companies in Switzerland with headquarter in Zurich, Swisslinx is looking for a task-driven Senior Python Developer with a passion for clean code to build reliable and accurate software to process financial data on an initial 12 months contract basis.

The project:

Work in a scrum team and collaborate effectively with other engineers, the scrum master and product owner to build the future of our client in Microsoft Azure by implementing a medallion architecture utilizing Delta Lake tables and Apache Spark running on Azure Data bricks. You will join a project to build software solutions that process financial data to support internal and external financial reporting.

Your responsibilities:

- Writing clean code in Python utilizing Apache Spark to solve complex issues
- Code reviewing and coaching of other junior team members
- Contributing to design topics that interact with data processing pipelines such as Azure Data Factory, SQL Server and Power BI
- Building reliable software to process financial data in order to support internal and external financial reporting

Your background:

- Strong core Python software engineering experience
- Experience with projects using relational data models and SQL
- Familiarity with Apache Spark and Delta Lake tables
- Exposure to automated tests
- Experience in mentoring team members to improve the engineering practice of the whole team
- Experience working in Scrum & agile environments
- An outstanding team player eager to make contributions to the product area with a passion for clean code
- Good communication skills in English
