Wealth and Personal Banking is our new global business combining Retail Banking and Wealth Management; and Global Private Banking, to become one of the world's largest global wealth managers with USD1.4 trillion in assets. We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Wealth and Personal Banking team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

The Investment Counsellor is mainly responsible for the positioning and delivery of investment solutions to clients and prospects of the HSBC Private Bank, with the primary objectives of:
  • partnering with Relationship Managers to offer appropriate investment solutions to clients, and
  • attracting/enhancing client relationships and profitability.


In this role, you will:

Main responsibilities :
  • Provide investment support, education and guidance to clients, prospective clients and Relationship Managers.
  • Assess the client needs, experience, expectations and risk tolerance.
  • Develop a comprehensive Investment Strategy and Asset Allocation proposal appropriate to the client.
  • Coordinate the execution of an Investment Strategy with appropriate products and services.
  • Ensure the use of an "open architecture" product selection to ensure the best-in-class product offering.
  • Monitor client portfolios for performance, asset allocation and appropriateness.
  • Provide updates on investment opportunities to clients, prospective clients and Relationship Managers.
  • Provide input and support for the development of new business initiatives and product enhancements.
  • Identify/communicate issues or limitations related to product, platform, operations, systems or pricing.
  • Maintain current knowledge of competitors' investment capabilities, product offering and pricing policies.
  • Ensure the integrity of the sales process and compliance with all HSBC and regulatory policies.
  • Focus on servicing a dedicated set of clients and ensure back up responsibilities for other regions covered by his/her colleagues within Europe International.
  • Be instrumental in client acquisition, product development and process optimization.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in the investment management business and competitive and regulatory environment.
  • Masters' degree in economics or equivalent.
  • CFA exam or equivalent would be a strong advantage.
  • Very good understanding of the private wealth management industry, macroeconomics, financial markets and various traditional and non-traditional investment products.
  • Proven skill set in capital market theory, investment process, and product selection.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking and being able to articulate specific market environment and complex investments to clients and RMs.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and complex problem resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required. German or French would be an advantage.
  • Due to immigration restrictions in Switzerland we will only be able to consider applications from Swiss or EU citizens or from candidates holding a valid Swiss work permit.
